Police bust JAMB fraud syndicate, arrest suspect

The Nigeria Police Force Intelligence, Operations and Investigation Unit has dismantled a JAMB fraud syndicate, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu. The unit arrested one suspect, Nwogba Arinze, who allegedly posed as the Registrar's personal assistant. Arinze used the bank account of his deceased nephew to conceal his identity and evade detection.

The alleged principal suspect, Nnabuife Nwekpa, remains at large. The operation was launched after a petition by JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina, who alleged criminal conspiracy, impersonation, identity theft and fraud. The syndicate created fake social media accounts using the Registrar's identity to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

Police are still pursuing the other suspects and advise the public to report suspicious online activities to the National Cybercrime Centre.
