Penyatuan Melayu boleh berlaku bila-bila masa, mesti berteraskan ‘Rumah Bangsa’ Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno views itself as the party that nurtured Malay nationalism and wishes to remain a shelter for efforts to unite Malays, said Deputy President Mohamad Hasan. The party always welcomes cross-party and ideological cooperation, he said. However, any such collaboration must have a clear goal and be grounded in Umno's vision of the 'Rumah Bangsa', he emphasized.

Unity of the Malay nation may be achieved at any time, regardless of circumstances, he added. Any political cooperation among Malays must be based on a sincere intention and strategic political interests of Malays, Islam, and Umno, rather than being temporary or seasonal, he stressed. Moreover, political cooperation among Malays should not seek to exploit Umno's strengths or weaknesses, he said.

Mohamad also stressed that Umno wants to play a leading role in such cooperation, which must be guided by Umno. It must make Umno the foundation, pillar, and main principle that binds everyone to the interest of Malays, he said. Umno views itself as the party that gave birth to Malay nationalism and wants to continue being a shelter for efforts to unite Malays.

At the same time, any form of cross-party and ideological cooperation among Malays must remain flexible and not necessarily translate into the formation of a new political alliance, he said.
