Pakistan’s Remittances Rise 17% to $3.66 Billion in August 2026

In August 2026, Pakistan received $3.66 billion in workers' remittances, marking a 17 percent increase compared to $3.14 billion in the same month the previous year, as reported by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Remittances also rose 1 percent year-over-year to $3.63 billion in July. The first two months of fiscal year 2027 saw total remittances amounting to $7.29 billion, representing a 15 percent increase from $6.35 billion during the corresponding period in 2026.

Saudi Arabia remained the primary source of remittances in August, contributing $873 million, which is a 19 percent increase from the previous year. The United Arab Emirates followed with $750 million, a 17 percent rise, while inflows from the United Kingdom saw a 22 percent increase to $564 million. Remittances from the European Union grew 15 percent to $496 million, and inflows from the United States climbed 16 percent to $309 million. Other Gulf countries contributed $327 million, an 8 percent increase from the prior year.

During the first two months of financial year 2027, Saudi Arabia sent $1.79 billion, the UAE followed with $1.49 billion, and the UK contributed $1.12 billion. Remittances from all major regions exceeded the same period in the previous fiscal year. Topline Research anticipates Pakistan's remittances to reach $43.7 billion in FY27, aligning with the State Bank of Pakistan's projection of remittances growing to approximately $44 billion during the fiscal year.
