Pakistan Fails to Secure LNG Cargo as Tender Receives No Bids

Pakistan's efforts to secure a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo for September were unsuccessful as no bids were received for the tender, according to sources. This marked the third attempt by the government to find an LNG supplier for the month. The Public Libyan Logistics (PLL) had invited international suppliers to submit bids by September 8, but received none.

The government had previously canceled two LNG cargo tenders for September, deeming the bids too expensive. The latest tender failure comes as Pakistan continues to struggle with securing LNG due to disruptions to Qatari supplies. Earlier this month, the government dismissed two bids for September cargoes after suppliers quoted prices of approximately $26.97 and $26.71 per MMBtu.

The ongoing disruption of LNG shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has further tightened regional supply and driven up spot prices. Additionally, a Qatari LNG cargo has successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since July and is heading to Pakistan's Port Qasim, with the vessel Al Marrouna expected to arrive as early as September 10.
