Pakistan among Arab, Muslim nations welcoming UK ban on imports from illegal Israeli settlements

Pakistan joined seven other Arab and Muslim nations in applauding the United Kingdom's decision to prohibit imports from Israeli settlements in the West Bank. This ban, announced by UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, accused the Israeli government of ignoring what he called "ethnic cleansing" by settlers in the West Bank. The decision, along with those by Canada and France, was welcomed by the UK's foreign office, which stated that it aligned with international law and UN resolutions like Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016) and the International Court of Justice's advisory opinion from July 19, 2024.

The seven countries, including Pakistan, Turikey, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, expressed hope that other nations would follow suit. They also condemned Israel's actions as a setback for the two-state solution and called for an independent, sovereign, contiguous, and viable Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Pakistan reiterated its support for Palestine, vowing to stand by its people in their struggle for self-determination.
