NSCDC arrests suspected vandal of critical infrastructure in Kogi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kogi State has apprehended a suspect, Adebayo Joshua, 35, who is accused of vandalizing critical national assets and infrastructure. This occurred at the Kogi State Project Cashew Aggregation Centre in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area. The arrest was made in collaboration with local vigilantes by NSCDC personnel stationed at the Isanlu Division.

Items reported to have been damaged include peeled-off electrical cables and an electrical control board. Following preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and is now assisting the Corps with further investigation for potential prosecution, as per the law. Kogi State Commandant, CC Aletan Olumide Ebenezer, praised the vigilance of both NSCDC and local vigilantes, urging residents, especially youths, to provide credible intelligence on suspicious activities.

Kogi's rich mineral and agricultural resources place a responsibility on all residents to protect the state's assets and promote economic development. The commandant reiterated the priority of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to protect critical national assets and infrastructure within the command's jurisdiction.

He assured Kogi residents that the Corps would continue deploying intelligence-led operations to curb vandalism, theft, and other forms of criminality. He emphasized the collective responsibility of security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, vigilantes, and the public in ensuring security.
