Murkomen, Kanja join Global Security Forum in China focused on transnational security threats

Nairobi, Kenya - Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and National Police Service Inspector-General Douglas Kanja have traveled to China for a global security forum aimed at enhancing collaboration against interconnected public-security threats. Kanja is part of Murkomen's delegation attending the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, which is presently taking place in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, starting from September 9, as reported by the National Police Service (NPS).

The annual conference aims to facilitate international discourse and practical cooperation in addressing the "expanding interconnectedness and transnational character of modern public-security challenges." The forum gathers delegates to examine a wide array of security issues, with eight focused sub-forums addressing topics such as migration management, drug control, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, police training, tourism security, and international security services.

The comprehensive agenda underscores the importance of cross-border security collaboration, with participating nations expected to participate in areas demanding international dialogue and joint efforts. The NPS highlighted the conference's objective of promoting cooperation on contemporary public-security challenges. "Held annually, this conference aims to promote international dialogue and practical cooperation in response to the increasing interconnectedness and transnational nature of contemporary public-security threats," stated the NPS. Senior NPS officers are joining Kanja in attending the conference.
