Mallya says he cannot leave UK, rejects bhagoda tag

London: Vijay Mallya, a businessman accused of fleeing India, has posted online stating that he is barred from leaving the United Kingdom. Mallya, who has been labeled a "bhagoda" by critics, maintains his innocence and claims that the Indian government has been unjust to him. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), several legal complexities are preventing Mallya from returning to India to face trial.

Mallya insists that he has been a permanent resident of the UK since 1992 and is legally prevented from departing the country. He further criticized banks and the government, asserting that recovery of substantial debts from him has occurred, but justice remains elusive. Mallya also mentioned that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recovered Rs 14,131.60 crore from him, although he claims that the recovery was unjust.
