Lanjar asks LEAs to intensify action against criminals

Karachi - Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has instructed law enforcement agencies to intensify operations against criminal elements in order to safeguard citizens' lives and property. During a law and order meeting at the Central Police Office, Lanjar reviewed the overall situation in the province, focusing on law enforcement actions, street crime, robbery, snatching, and security measures.

He emphasized the need for a rigorous and effective strategy to combat street crime, robbery, and snatching. Lanjar directed the expansion of intelligence-based and targeted operations against street criminals and those involved in robbery and snatching. He ordered the identification of crime hotspots and the deployment of additional personnel, effective patrolling, picketing, and special surveillance in these areas.

Further, Lanjar instructed that police patrolling and surveillance be strengthened along major highways, entry and exit points, commercial centers, residential areas, and sensitive locations. He emphasized the expansion of snap-checking and picketing in various regions to deter street crime, robbery, and snatching. The Intelligence and Reconnaissance mechanisms were directed to be activated further to monitor criminal elements' movements, identify escape routes, and trace their enablers.

Lanjar stressed the importance of swift police response to criminal incidents, prompt action on citizens' complaints, and effective investigation, evidence-based action, and securing convictions in line with the law. He directed the strengthening of coordination and communication between police forces across districts to ensure criminals are brought within the law's reach.

Lanjar directed that information about suspicious vehicles, wanted suspects, and criminal gangs be promptly shared with relevant districts. He also ordered the strengthening of inter-district coordination mechanisms to monitor criminal elements' movements effectively. IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho briefed the meeting, stating that operations against street crime, robbery, and snatching were being intensified, with a zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements.

He added that police officers were identifying crime hotspots and ensuring effective patrolling and targeted operations, further strengthening field policing to protect citizens' lives and property.
