Keanu Reeves to Star in ‘Kill Current’ Adaptation

The Arena has announced it will finance and produce a Keanu Reeves-led adaptation of Oliver Lowe’s upcoming novel “Kill Current: A Jon Hendricks Thriller.” Reeves will also serve as a producer alongside Alexandra Grant under Two Dragonflies. Molly Stern and Zando are set to executive produce. “Kill Current” marks the first book in Lowe’s series centered on Jon Hendricks, a disillusioned CIA officer who is recruited to avenge the protégé he trained who was lost.

Lowe’s novel introduces a globe-spanning, high-stakes action thriller featuring shifting alliances and the pursuit of the world’s most coveted and valuable assets. Erik Feig, CEO of The Arena, stated the acquisition of “Kill Current” highlights the company’s commitment to launching high-concept IP for global audiences across various media.

Molly Stern, CEO of Zando, emphasized that Lowe’s story has the potential to reinvent the geopolitical thriller for contemporary times. “Kill Current” explores pressing global issues such as semiconductors, supply chains, and technological warfare, offering fast-paced, globe-trotting storytelling with complex characters fans of thrillers will appreciate.

Both Lowe and Grant, co-founders of Two Dragonflies, expressed their excitement about the project, with Reeves adding he’s eager to develop the character of Jon Hendricks with his partners. Two Dragonflies, founded in 2026, focuses on producing narratives across diverse media, cultures, and boundaries. Lowe, whose real name is Casey Stegman, resides in North Carolina and has had his work published in various literary outlets, including Tough, Shotgun Honey, and Dark Yonder. Reeves is represented by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
