Kano political commentator found dead at home

Social media political commentator Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu was found dead at his home in Gaida, Kano State. The cause of his death is still unknown, but his body was discovered in a pool of blood, leading to calls for an immediate investigation. Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso expressed his shock and anger over the brutal killing, urging the government to form an investigative panel.

He also warned that if the authorities fail to take swift and transparent action, the incoming NDC Government would conduct a full investigation and hold the perpetrators accountable. Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of protecting opposition voices and guaranteed freedom of expression under the Nigerian Constitution. Amnesty International Nigeria condemned the killing and urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, expressing concern over politically related threats and intimidation ahead of the elections.

Kano State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Husaini Mai Riga, described the incident as "deeply disturbing and unacceptable," calling for a prompt investigation and enhanced security measures for journalists to ensure their safety while performing their duties.
