Kano political commentator found dead at home

Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, a prominent political commentator from Kano State, was found dead at his residence in Gaida, Kano State. The exact cause of his death is still under investigation, but his body was discovered in a pool of blood. This tragic incident has sparked calls for a thorough investigation by the authorities. Former Kano State Governor and opposition politician, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, expressed his deep concern over the brutal killing of the influential social media commentator.

Kwankwaso demanded an immediate probe into the incident and vowed that if the ruling government fails to take decisive action, the incoming opposition party will launch a full investigation. Amnesty International Nigeria also condemned the killing, emphasizing that outspoken individuals should not be targeted or killed in a democratic society.

They urged for a comprehensive investigation and justice for Dan Shagamu. The Kano State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Husaini Mai Riga, condemned the killing as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, emphasizing that it threatens press freedom, public safety, and democratic values. He called for an immediate investigation and protection of journalists across the state.

Mai Riga also expressed condolences to Dan Shagamu's family and colleagues in the journalism community.
