Apple unveils the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro, alongside its inaugural foldable device during a keynote address in Cupertino. The iPhone 18 Pro series champions the A20 Pro chip, marking the first Apple device to ship with the new Siri AI technology. Apple boasts that the new camera system is more adaptable than ever, with a variable aperture lending users greater control over depth of field and light absorption - a first for the iPhone range.

Priced starting at $1299 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and $1199 for the iPhone 18 Pro, pre-orders commence on September 12, with availability from September 18. The devices are offered in Deep Black, Burgundy, and Glacier hues. The revamped Siri, built on Apple Intelligence, now grasps personal context and can execute tasks across approximately 300,000 apps, ranging from adding groceries to a list to sending a WhatsApp, or pulling up restaurant research.

Siri receives a mode dedicated to the Camera application, expressive voice options for responses, and more precise dictation, all marketed as productivity enhancements in everyday usage. The company claims Siri AI manages 2.5 billion requests daily and will extend to 16 languages post the forthcoming iOS update.

The A20 Pro chip, constructed on a 2-nanometer process, drives both models, boasting a 6-core CPU claimed as the swiftest in any smartphone, delivering a 20 percent performance boost over its predecessor. It also brings a 40 percent surge in graphics performance and pairs with a 32-core Neural Engine that doubles processing power, directly aimed at enhancing on-device AI tasks like image creation.

Memory bandwidth is up 50 percent, and Apple asserts redesigned packaging enhances thermal management, enabling the chip to maintain performance under heavier AI loads. Rapid charging is also introduced, with the iPhone 18 Pro capable of reaching a 50 percent charge in about 15 minutes, with just five minutes of charge providing six hours of usage.
