iOS 27 arrives on September 14, here's what you'll get

On September 14, Apple will release iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for iPhone and iPad users. These updates will bring a wide range of new features and improvements to the devices. iOS 27 introduces a redesigned Siri with enhanced capabilities, including visual intelligence and improved image processing. Visual Intelligence allows users to use screenshots and captured images as context for Siri queries, while Spatial Reframe enables changing perspectives in images.

Additionally, the Photos app gains Extend, which generates content beyond an image's original boundaries, and Image Playground supports more generation styles, including photorealistic images.

To enhance user privacy and safety, the updates include parental controls and updated Communication Safety features that can detect and obscure graphic imagery. The Liquid Glass design achieves readability improvements and sharper icons. GymKit enables iPhones to connect directly to compatible cardio equipment. Health now includes cycle tracking with notifications for perimenopause patterns.

Apple Maps receives updated Flyover imagery and the ability to automatically generate Local Lists for restaurants and other locations. The Home app can summarize notifications, describe HomeKit Secure Video footage, and stream or record video in 4K for supported cameras. Many changes in iPadOS 27 focus on Apple Intelligence, Siri AI, and system performance, with optimizations and bug fixes across supported devices.

For iPadOS 27, users can expect paste suggestions, faster windowing actions, and a new system-wide menu bar. File transfers in the Files app will be up to five times faster. Beyond Siri AI and Spotlight features, the update brings system improvements available across supported iPad models, including standard iPads and iPad Pro. iOS 27 supports the following iPhone models: iPhone 8 and later.
