GTA attends Meeting of Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Administrations in GCC States

Doha, Qatar witnessed the 17th Meeting of the Committee of Heads and Directors of Tax Administrations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, hosted within the Kingdom of Bahrain on a recent day. The event gathered Their Excellencies – the heads and directors of tax administrations from each GCC state. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al-Kuwari, President of the General Tax Authority in Qatar, presided over the delegation from his home nation.

The gathering delved into numerous subjects concerning the evolution of tax systems within the GCC. Discussions encompassed regulatory and legislative structures, as well as heightened integration between digital systems. Attendees also examined significant regional and international happenings and pertinent precedents, alongside deliberations on coordination and mutual interests among the Member States.

A key takeaway was the necessity of bolstering collective GCC action and persistent collaboration in the tax domain to promote tax policy development, economic diversification strategies, and sustainable progression across the GCC nations. The speakers underscored the significance of regular inter-state summits in harmonizing endeavors and fortifying institutional aptitudes to aid Member State economic pursuits.

This meeting is part of the continuous endeavors to fortify collaboration and coordination among GCC tax authorities and administrations. It aims to elevate tax systems' efficiency across the Member States and align tax regulations and procedures with global economic trends, all while advancing GCC economic unification.
