Glo leads telcos with 1.3m new internet subscribers

Globacom, Nigeria's leading telecommunications operator, reported a significant surge in internet subscribers in May, adding approximately 1.3 million new customers during the month. This surge brought the company's total subscriber base to 16.8 million subscribers by the end of May, up from 15.5 million in April. Globacom's growth accounted for nearly half of the industry's net increase in internet subscribers, as reported by the Nigerian Communications Commission.

Airtel Nigeria followed closely with a net addition of about 1.07 million new subscribers. MTN Nigeria, however, added a comparatively smaller number of 382,894 new subscribers during the same period. Globacom's CEO emphasized the company's commitment to improving data services and digital connectivity for its customers, citing the success of its recent network modernization and infrastructure expansion initiatives.

To celebrate its 23rd anniversary in Lagos, Globacom unveiled four new products and launched a corporate advocacy campaign, "Never Settle for Less". The new offerings include the Welcome Bonus, Talkmasta Reloaded, Magic Data Bundles and the upgraded Glo Café 3.0 self-service application.
