Trump gave US$45,000 cash gift to ‘human printer’ aide

In a recent disclosure, it was revealed that US President Donald Trump bestowed a US$45,000 cash gift upon his top aide, Natalie Harp. This significant sum was presented to Harp, along with two other White House employees, Margo Martin and Chamberlain Harris, as part of a holiday present, according to the financial disclosure forms released by the White House on Wednesday. These documents confirmed that the money was given by Trump himself, not sourced from public funds.

Harp, who has served as Trump's executive assistant and special assistant for the past two years, has been affectionately nicknamed the "human printer" due to her duty of carrying a portable printing device to fulfill the President's document-printing requests. As part of her role, Harp operates Trump's Truth Social account, typing out his dictated posts, even incorporating his characteristic capital letters, as documented in a 2024 campaign film.

With a base salary of US$150,000 annually, Harp's cash gift was disclosed in an annual report to Congress. A White House spokesperson defended the gifts, asserting that they were consistent with Trump's tradition of presenting holiday presents to associates, including employees and aides. The spokesperson emphasized that these gifts were not tied to the recipients' duties, thus deemed legally and ethically permissible.
