Education minister hails NYSC for using tech to fight fraud

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, recently praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for their efforts in combating fraud and enhancing operational efficiency through the use of technology, according to a post on the scheme's X handle. Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the NYSC Director-General, met with Alausa in Abuja, where he highlighted the positive transformations the NYSC has achieved, particularly in adopting technology for registration and deployment processes.

Alausa commended the NYSC for these advancements, noting that the scheme's digitization has significantly improved its operations despite initial resistance from some public figures. The NYSC has also strengthened security features on corps members' call-up and posting letters to prevent fraudsters from cloning documents and issuing fake letters.

A joint committee has been established to ensure only qualified graduates participate in the NYSC, aiming to increase the scheme's effectiveness and prevent financial exploitation of corps members.
