Descendants Of The Sun to get Indonesian film remake starring Dian Sastrowardoyo in 2027

The Indonesian film industry is set to produce a remake of the 2016 Korean drama "Descendants Of The Sun," starring acclaimed actors Dian Sastrowardoyo and Reza Rahadian. Scheduled for release in 2027, the adaptation will bring a fresh perspective to the well-loved story. Sastrowardoyo, a celebrated actress, gained international recognition for her role in the 2002 film "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?," while Rahadian has earned numerous accolades throughout his two-decade-long career.

The original series, which starred Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, follows the tumultuous romance between Yoo Shi-jin and Kang Mo-yeon amidst their professional responsibilities. Directed by Hanung Bramantyo, known for his previous works "Ayat-Ayat Cinta" and "Habibie & Ainun," the Indonesian remake aims to maintain its unique identity, adapting the story to resonate with Indonesian audiences.

Featuring additional talents such as singer-actress Eva Celia and Indonesian-American actor Yoshi Sudarso, the film is currently in post-production and will be distributed by South Korean production house Next Entertainment World through its subsidiary, Contents Panda.
