CCTV row turns deadly as Kanpur woman held over father-in-law’s murder

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Shalu Minocha has been arrested in connection with the murder of her father-in-law, Vineet Minocha, a 63-year-old pharmaceutical businessman. The alleged motive behind the crime was tension surrounding CCTV surveillance, household finances, and restrictions imposed at home.

According to the police, Shalu hired a former employee and another man to carry out the killing. Tensions rose after Vineet installed four CCTV cameras inside their home, an action that Shalu reportedly found intrusive and a violation of her privacy. The police allege that Shalu contacted Vishal Gautam, her ex-employee, to orchestrate the murder.

CCTV footage captured two suspects entering Vineet's apartment. Based on electronic evidence, the police are piecing together the details of the alleged plot. Initially, the plan was to smother Vineet with a pillow and make his death appear as a heart attack. However, when the attackers confronted him, he was stabbed 26 times, and the plan shifted to a more violent approach.

Shalu and her husband, Subrat, had been out at a party with their child that night. Upon their return, they discovered Vineet dead inside their apartment. Although initial suspicions of robbery were dismissed due to the absence of any valuables, the investigation soon focused on a personal dispute.

As the investigation progresses, police are also exploring the possibility of whether Subrat had any prior knowledge of the alleged plan. Shalu currently remains in custody while the authorities continue their investigation.
