Asutifi South Assembly supports 46 PWDs with items, forms task force to monitor beneficiaries

The Asutifi South District Assembly in Ghana's Ahafo Region has distributed livelihood support items to 46 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as part of initiatives aimed at enhancing their economic conditions. The recipients received valuable assets such as deep freezers, spraying machines, and provisions during a ceremony held at Hwidiem.

District Chief Executive Benjamin Assabil Donkor informed the media that the Assembly has set up a task force to oversee the beneficiaries and ensure the items are utilized as intended. He warned against misuse or disposal of the items, warning that the Assembly would impose penalties on anyone found to have violated this directive.

Donkor explained that the monitoring system is crucial to guaranteeing the intervention's success and delivering lasting benefits to the beneficiaries. Kennedy Seidu, the District Social Welfare Director, elaborated that this initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to improve the livelihoods of PWDs and diminish the prevalence of street begging.

He urged other PWDs in the district who have yet to take advantage of the program to register with the District Assembly for potential future support. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Salamata expressed gratitude to the government and the Assembly for their assistance and urged fellow beneficiaries to use the items responsibly, ensuring the intervention achieves its intended impact.
