Apple Store is down ahead of iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo foldable and more announcements

Ahead of this morning's September Apple event, the Apple Store is currently down. The expected announcements include the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the foldable iPhone Duo, the updated Apple Watch Series 12, and refreshed AirPods (fifth-generation). This event marks the first led by new CEO John Ternus, who promises several new products.

The iPhone Duo boasts a ~5.5-inch outer display when closed and a ~7.8-inch display when unfolded. This size places it slightly smaller than an iPad mini. The Duo's expansive screen, when unfolded, aims to provide immersive media experiences and enhanced productivity via split-screen multitasking of two apps simultaneously. Differentiating itself from other foldables, Apple will emphasize premium build quality, including a custom-designed hinge and a minimal crease along the inner screen.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will also be unveiled alongside the Duo. They will feature advanced processors, an enhanced camera system, and a new cherry red color option. The Dynamic Island on the new Pro models is set to shrink in width, reducing bezels even further. The starting price for the 18 Pro line is expected to increase by approximately $100.

However, the base models of the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 will not be showcased at this event. Apple is altering its release schedule, meaning the entry-level iPhone will no longer debut in the fall. Instead, it is projected to arrive in the spring, while the base iPhone 17 will likely continue to be sold until then.

Additionally, today's event is expected to introduce the new Apple Watch lineup, Series 12 and Ultra 4, as well as new AirPods 5. Reports suggest these new watches will incorporate improved health tracking capabilities and a novel AI feature generating daily recaps of locations and conversations. Other anticipated Apple hardware includes a smart home display product, refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini, and a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touch screen.

Most estimates suggest these additional products will launch later in the year, likely during an October event.
