Apple AirPods 5 Now Official With Better ANC; Price Starts From RM599

Apple has just revealed its newest pair of earbuds, the AirPods 5, at its "Surprise and Shine" event. These new TWS earbuds are the successors to the AirPods 4, which were introduced in 2024. The AirPods 5 come in two versions: a standard model and one with a Wireless Charging Case. While both models retain the classic AirPods design, they now come equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), a feature that was previously only available on some higher-end models.

According to Apple, the ANC in the AirPods 5 can block up to 50% more external noise compared to the ANC feature in the AirPods 4. This enhanced noise-cancelling capability is made possible by the new earbuds' multiport acoustic architecture and updated Adaptive EQ, which Apple claims delivers a more immersive and personalized listening experience. Furthermore, the personalization extends to the Spatial Audio feature, making it feel more immersive and dynamic, as if the user is surrounded by the audio.

In addition to these improvements, the AirPods 5 also feature an upgraded Transparency mode, which makes nearby voices and ambient sounds feel more natural. The company has also introduced Conversation Awareness, a feature that automatically lowers the volume of the earbuds when it detects the user speaking, ensuring a more natural conversation experience. The AirPods 5 support Live Translation, but this feature requires the earbuds to be paired with a compatible iPhone that has Apple Intelligence enabled.
