Aayalolo adds 48 buses to fleet as GAPTE moves to ease Accra traffic

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, visited the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE) facilities that operate the Aayalolo bus service in Madina, Achimota, and Kinbu. This inspection aimed to evaluate the number and condition of buses available and identify necessary measures to bring back grounded vehicles to active service.

Mr Ayariga began his inspection at the Aayalolo office in Madina, where he met with management and staff to discuss the challenges faced by the transportation service. He then proceeded to the Aayalolo yard in Achimota, where he observed several buses parked due to mechanical breakdowns. The tour concluded at the Kinbu facility in Accra.

Ayariga explained that this inspection would enable the government to gain a better understanding of the operational challenges faced by Aayalolo and determine the required interventions to enhance the service. He assured management and staff of the government's commitment to revamping the Aayalolo system, emphasizing the importance of returning more grounded buses to operation. This, in turn, would strengthen public transportation and improve mobility for commuters in the Greater Accra Region.
