‘We can win it’: Mac Allister rallies Liverpool and Anfield faithful before Champions League opener vs Atletico

Alexis Mac Allister has declared Liverpool capable of winning the Champions League this season prior to their opening fixture against Atletico Madrid. The Reds will commence their European campaign under the Anfield lights against Atletico Madrid later today. Liverpool has not advanced beyond the Champions League quarter-finals since 2022, losing to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in both of the past two campaigns.

However, Mac Allister remains confident in Andoni Iraola's side and their potential to make an impact, possibly including a title win. "We have a lot of quality," he stated at a pre-game press conference. "We have a very good coach that brought his ideas. I think we improved a lot since the beginning of the season, we have the desire to win trophies.

We have experience, we have trophies, we have everything to be successful, but we need to be all together. You can have the best players, best ideas, but if we are not on the same page, it's impossible." Mac Allister expressed his anticipation for another "special" European night on Merseyside and urged the Anfield support to rally behind the team.

"It's so special for me, I really enjoy them [European nights]." He noted the difference between Europa League and Champions League matches since his arrival at the club. "Hopefully we can play good football so the fans can get behind us."
