Vancouver officer Kal Dosanjh, charged with theft and fraud, denies wrongdoing

Vancouver police officer Kal Dosanjh, who has served the community for 26 years, has denied allegations of theft, fraud, and breach of trust after millions of dollars are said to have been lost. Dosanjh was arrested in Surrey, B.C., following a two-year covert investigation by Vancouver police. According to his lawyer, Joven Narwal, Dosanjh has devoted thousands of hours to helping young people through sports, mentorship, and education as part of his charitable work with the Kids Play foundation.

The alleged losses from 2017 to 2025 amount to more than $3 million. Chief Const. Steve Rai described the allegations as "deeply troubling" and raised concerns about the potential impact on public trust in officers. Narwal also expressed concerns about the internal investigation conducted by Vancouver police, questioning the independence, objectivity, and safeguards used in such cases. Dosanjh thanked his supporters and the public for allowing the legal process to take its course.
