Andhra CM Naidu tells MLAs to stay close to people, address grievances fast

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs and public representatives to implement best governance practices, maintain close ties with citizens, and swiftly address long-standing issues in their respective constituencies. Speaking at a leadership conference on government and public services at the TDP office in Mangalagiri, Naidu highlighted that some constituencies were excelling in providing citizen services and encouraged all 175 Assembly constituencies to follow suit.

The state was losing about ₹1,000 crore annually by giving away sand for free, and Naidu instructed officials to prevent the sand's diversion to other states. He emphasized the importance of closely monitoring sand distribution.

Naidu criticized the previous YSRCP government for distorting the liquor policy and promoting substandard brands, which he claimed resulted in the deaths of 30,000 people. Under his administration, transparency in liquor sales was ensured. He warned of strict action against any irregularities and directed MLAs to ensure that retailers sold liquor at or below the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Strict consequences would be imposed for any violations, he added.

Addressing the party leaders, Naidu asked them to counter false propaganda with facts and leverage technology to connect with the public. He instructed MLAs to promptly tackle pressing issues in their constituencies instead of waiting for complaints. Land disputes were a significant source of public grievances, and Naidu directed officials to complete the cleansing of land records across the state by March 2027.

He stressed the importance of effectively resolving grievances via the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), with complaints to be followed up from the field level to the State level. Naidu emphasized that a political leader should remain close to people, with even voice messages helping maintain contact. He urged policymakers to consider the aspirations of Generation Z and anticipate economic conditions and challenges that may arise a decade from now.

Health, education, and liveability should be the top priorities for enhancing the quality of life, he said. Referring to issues discussed at a previous leadership meeting, Naidu informed that the government had sanctioned 616 projects worth ₹20,400 crore across all constituencies after reviewing the proposals.
