Oleksandr Usyk has made it abundantly clear that he will not serve as Tyson Fury's backup plan. After Fury publicly expressed a desire for a third fight with Usyk following his initial showdown with Anthony Joshua falling through, Usyk's team swiftly expressed their disinterest in being Plan B. Fury and Joshua have been unable to agree on the location for their highly anticipated bout, leading Fury to seek an alternative opponent in Usyk.

However, Usyk's manager, Sergey Lapin, firmly stated that Usyk is not Tyson's backup plan and emphasized that any serious intention must be supported by a concrete offer rather than mere verbal statements. The message was clear: if Fury truly wants to fight Usyk for a third time, he must make a genuine offer and engage in direct negotiations rather than relying on Usyk after his plans with Joshua fell through.

Usyk and Fury have faced each other twice in 2024, with Usyk emerging victorious in both encounters, further solidifying his status as a formidable heavyweight champion. Despite vacating his heavyweight titles, Usyk has hinted at the possibility of another major fight before eventually retiring.
