Los Angeles Chargers offseason changes for Cardinals fans to know

The Arizona Cardinals begin their NFL season this Sunday facing the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers underwent several offseason adjustments. Coaching alterations included retaining head coach Jim Harbaugh, but replacing offensive coordinator Greg Roman with Mike McDaniel, former head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Jesse Minter, previously defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, took the position vacated by Chris O Leary.

In free agency, the Chargers parted ways with center Bradley Bozeman and guard Mekhi Becton. Key departures also included running back Najee Harris, guard Zion Johnson, and receiver Keenan Allen. In lieu of Harris, they signed Dalvin Tomlinson, a former Cardinals defensive tackle. Tyler Biadasz, another guard, was lost for the season due to a knee injury. However, the team did bolster its roster by adding center Cole Strange and tight end David Njoku.

Draft-wise, the Chargers selected Akheem Mesidor, a pass rusher, as their first pick, who will play alongside Khalil Mack. Jake Slaughter, a second-round pick, will start at center. Other notable additions include receiver Brenan Thompson, tackle Travis Burke, safety Genesis Smith, defensive tackle Nick Barrett, guards Logan Taylor and Alex Harkey.
