Travel and tour agent remanded over GH¢107,000 recruitment scam

A travel agent, Clement Osei-Wusu, has been taken into custody for allegedly defrauding a civil servant and his relatives of GH¢107,000 under false pretenses. Osei-Wusu promised to recruit the complainant and his relatives into various Ghanaian security services, including the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, Immigration Service, and Revenue Authority. He pleaded not guilty before an Accra Circuit Court, which ordered him to appear again on September 22, 2026.

The prosecution, represented by Assistant Superintendent of Police Raymond Ackom, alleged that Osei-Wusu operated a WhatsApp group called "Limited Job Opportunities" and charged the complainant GH¢15,000 for recruitment into the Ghana Revenue Authority and GH¢19,000 for the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services. On October 17, 2025, the complainant and his cousin visited Osei-Wusu's office in Weija SCC and paid for two positions in the Ghana Armed Forces.

By December 24, 2025, the complainant had transferred GH¢35,000 into Osei-Wusu's bank account. In 2026, additional payments totaling GH¢20,000 were made through various accounts, but Osei-Wusu allegedly failed to deliver on his promises. The complainant reported the matter to the police, leading to Osei-Wusu's arrest.
