Travel agent remanded over alleged GH¢107k security recruitment fraud

Clement Osei-Wusu, a travel agent from Weija SCC, Accra, has been remanded into custody over allegations of defrauding a civil servant and his relatives in the amount of GHC107,000. Prosecutors claim Osei-Wusu promised to secure the complainant and his relatives recruitment into various Ghanaian security services, including the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Ghana Revenue Authority.

According to the prosecution, Osei-Wusu charged the complainant GHC15,000 for recruitment into the Ghana Revenue Authority and GHC19,000 for the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services. The complainant, along with his cousin, contacted Osei-Wusu through a WhatsApp group, where he allegedly advertised recruitment opportunities.

On October 17, 2025, the complainant and his cousin visited Osei-Wusu's office in Weija SCC and paid for two slots in the Ghana Armed Forces. Subsequent payments of GHC35,000 and GHC20,000 were made through various bank accounts. Despite receiving the payments, Osei-Wusu allegedly failed to fulfill his promises and blocked the complainant's communication.

The complainant reported the matter to the police on August 8, 2026, leading to Osei-Wusu's arrest. He has pleaded not guilty and will reappear in court on September 22, 2026.
