Status of 4 healthcare workers, pilot in chopper crash unknown, says minister

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad has stated that the status of four healthcare workers and a pilot remains unknown following a helicopter crash in Sarawak. The four passengers included a medical officer, an assistant medical officer, and two nurses. The ministry is currently reaching out to their families for support. The crash occurred near the Long Lellang STOLport, where the helicopter was carrying out a Flying Doctor Service flight with five people on board, including the pilot.

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed the incident. The public is advised against speculating about the situation or sharing unverified information. Sarawak police confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing, but they could not fly to the scene due to haze and it would take them 10 hours to reach the location from Marudi. The search efforts are dependent on the help of villagers in the vicinity of the crash.
