Small fire at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital children’s ward quickly extinguished, no injuries

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — A small fire broke out last night in the Respiratory and Haemodynamic Unit at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital’s paediatric ward in Ipoh. The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 11.14pm and dispatched 12 firefighters from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station. Upon arrival, they found the respiratory tube dryer 15 per cent damaged by fire, but fortunately, there were no casualties.

The fire was swiftly extinguished by hospital staff using two CO2 fire extinguishers before the firefighters arrived. The operation commander assessed the situation and instructed firefighters to ventilate the room and monitor the area to ensure no remaining hazards could cause the fire to reignite. The firefighting operation concluded at 12.09am.
