Six Gunung Gerah hikers safely out of forest after days missing

IPOH, September 8 — Six hikers who were part of the Trans Gerah Expedition in Gunung Gerah, Kelantan, and were reported missing on August 29, have been safely evacuated from Pos Kemar today. The Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director, Datuk Sayani Saidon, confirmed that Wan Ahmad Aslam Wan Zairudin, 39, his wife Siti Zulaiha Norizan, 39, their children Diya Raisha, 13, and Ahmad Raef, 9, along with mountain guides Shafiee Sidek, 49, and Hazman Mamat, 43, departed Pos Kemar at 8:30 this morning and arrived at Trojan Jetty, Tasik Banding by 10:20am.

According to Sayani, the entire group, along with the SAR (search and rescue) team, arrived at Pos Kemar around 9:15pm on the previous night. Following their arrival, all victims underwent a health examination by medical staff at the Pos Kemar Health Clinic and took some time to rest. Subsequently, they were transported to the Gerik IPD by the police for documentation and further procedures.

Initially, the six individuals were found safe the same evening and subsequently examined by medical personnel at the Pos Kemar Health Clinic. The original plan was for them to leave by September 3, but they failed to do so, prompting family members to notify the authorities.
