Six Gunung Gerah hikers safely out of forest after days missing

IPOH, Sept 8 — Six climbers who were part of the Trans Gerah Expedition in Gunung Gerah, Kelantan, have safely exited the forest this morning after being reported missing since August 29, according to Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon. The missing climbers include Wan Ahmad Aslam Wan Zairudin, 39 and his wife Siti Zulaiha Norizan, 39, along with their children Diya Raisha, 13, and Ahmad Raef, 9, as well as mountain guides Shafiee Sidek, 49, and Hazman Mamat, 43.

All parties, including the victims and the Search and Rescue (SAR) team, arrived safely at Pos Kemar at around 9:15 pm yesterday. Following a health check-up at the Pos Kemar Health Clinic, the group rested there before being taken to Gerik IPD by police for documentation and subsequent actions. The missing climbers were originally reported as having failed to leave the forest on the planned date of September 3, prompting family members to file a police report on Sunday.
