Sarawak heli crash: What we know so far [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians are praying for the safety of Health Ministry assistant medical officer Alexson Adit, who may have been aboard a helicopter that crashed in Sarawak today. A B0-105 helicopter, tasked with operating the ministry's Flying Doctor Service to the Sarawak interior, was piloted by a fifth individual when it crashed.

Authorities have not yet officially named the passengers, but social media users have begun sharing messages of hope for Alexson's well-being. Nathaniel Aaron Zaffruel and Cu Mazelin are among those who have expressed concern for the assistant medical officer's safety. Alexson's own social media post from March 10, showing him seated in the helicopter's cockpit with the pilot and medical officer Dr Ainul Baroah Kamaruddin, has since been widely shared.

Dr Ainul's family confirmed her death in the crash. The helicopter, carrying five people, including its pilot, was en route to Sarawak's interior when the incident occurred near the Long Lellang STOLport. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia received notification of the crash at 3:58 pm. Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that a search and rescue team has been mobilized, though the status of all individuals on board, including the pilot, remains under investigation.

The SAR team is expected to arrive at the crash site, which is a 10-hour drive from Marudi district police headquarters.
