Sam George launches AI, robotics bootcamp for 100 young Ghanaians

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations of Ghana, Samuel Nartey George, has pledged the government's dedication to introducing young Ghanaians to cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. This commitment was announced during the opening of a five-day AI and Robotics Summer Bootcamp designed for 100 students from 19 schools across the country.

The initiative aims to equip participants with practical experience in AI, robotics, coding and other emerging technologies, tailored to their age and educational level. Divided into four cohorts based on grade level, the bootcamp ranges from visual and block-based activities for younger learners to advanced problem-solving for older participants.

Minister George emphasized the importance of hands-on learning in preparing students for an increasingly digital economy, noting that AI, robotics and automation are rapidly transforming industries worldwide. He stressed the need for early exposure to these skills, aligning with Ghana's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

The Minister called on participants to embrace the programme with curiosity, discipline and an open mind, while encouraging broader support from parents, teachers, and partners to translate their newfound skills into real-world opportunities.
