Retired UFC legend arrested for drunk driving

UFC veteran Diego Sanchez found himself behind bars on Monday evening in Soccoro County, New Mexico, following an arrest for drunk driving. According to online court records, Sanchez was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol level exceeding .16. Additionally, he faces a probation violation. It is noteworthy that just earlier this year, in February, Sanchez reached a plea deal with prosecutors in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after being charged with multiple gun-related offenses in 2025. As a part of his plea agreement, Sanchez admitted guilt to shooting at or from a motor vehicle without causing serious injury, a fourth-degree felony.

This led to a five-year supervised probation sentence. The probation's terms explicitly forbid Sanchez from consuming alcohol, and his latest arrest could potentially complicate matters further for the experienced fighter. As of now, no bond has been established, and Sanchez remains incarcerated at Soccoro County Jail.
