Rapid KL says passenger surge behind LRT congestion at Pasar Seni, Kajang

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL has refuted allegations of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) service malfunction, stating that the congestion at key interchange stations was due to a surge in passenger numbers. The company released a statement today affirming that there were no reported schedule delays this morning, despite the crowded conditions at the Pasar Seni Kelana Jaya Line interchange and Kajang stations.

Rapid KL posted on its social media channels that these interchange stations are currently experiencing increased passenger volume, resulting in congestion. To maintain passenger safety and ensure smooth movement, entry controls and passenger flow management have been implemented at the affected stations. The statement comes after a video posted on social media by user nibukanyon showed heavy congestion at one of the stations, advising commuters to postpone their trips.

The video also suggested that the LRT service had been facing technical problems since the previous day, but Rapid KL denied these claims, emphasizing that the stations were simply overwhelmed by a higher number of passengers.
