Prince George starts Eton College as Harry and Meghan grapple with 'brutal put-down'

Prince George is embarking on a new chapter of his life as he prepares to begin his first day at Eton College, a prestigious private school in Berkshire. This marks another milestone in the young prince's journey towards adulthood, following in the footsteps of his father, the Prince of Wales, who also attended the historic institution. The 13-year-old prince will become a boarder at Eton, which is renowned for educating 20 British prime ministers and boasts an annual tuition fee of approximately £65,000.

Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William and Catherine, holds the second position in the line of succession to the British throne. The decision to enroll him at Eton was not taken lightly, as he is the second in line to the throne and his parents sought the best possible education for him. A photograph of Prince George for his 13th birthday was released, confirming the choice of Eton College.

The traditional choice of Eton College was made, with the prince following in the footsteps of his father, uncle Prince Harry, and great uncle Earl Spencer. Eton College is a boarding school with 25 boarding houses, each housing around 55 pupils, and is managed by residential staff led by a house master. The school is situated near the prince’s family home in Windsor.

An Eton College spokesperson stated that the school provides each student with a private single room. Melanie Sanderson, the managing editor of the Good Schools Guide, praised Eton for its "spectacular facilities and spacious grounds," emphasizing that despite its ancient buildings, it is a modern school with a progressive outlook.

Recent alumni of Eton College include notable politicians such as Lord David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Kwasi Kwarteng, and Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg. The school has also produced successful celebrities like Eddie Redmayne, Dominic West, Damian Lewis, and Tom Hiddleston. Prince William himself has spoken fondly about his time at Eton, expressing his enjoyment of being treated as just another student.
