PH sedia hadapi pelbagai senario PRN Melaka termasuk tanding solo

Pakatan Harapan (PH) is preparing for a range of scenarios in the upcoming Melaka PRN, including the possibility of contesting the election without cooperation with the Barisan Nasional (BN). Amirudin Shari, the PH Election Commissioner, stated that the party is conducting internal discussions to determine the specific steps they will take in response to the PRN Melaka. As of now, there have been no formal negotiations between PH and BN regarding cooperation for the upcoming PRN.

Shari clarified that formal negotiations with BN's Melaka chairman, Ab Rauf Yusoh, have not taken place to determine any form of cooperation. He emphasized that PH is preparing for various situations and conditions, which could mean facing similar circumstances as in the previous PRN in Johor or Negeri Sembilan, or something entirely different.

During a media briefing following the Handover of Power ceremony at NCT Smart Industrial Park (NSIP), Amirudin, who is also the Vice President of PKR, mentioned that PH will conduct internal discussions within a few days to decide on the specific steps they will take in response to PRN Melaka. He stated that while the distribution of seats among the component parties is usually finalized by the time of the candidate nominations, PH is prepared to take earlier action if the circumstances demand.

On August 25th, PH Chairperson Anwar Ibrahim had previously informed Amirudin that he had been given the mandate to explore the possibility of cooperation between the PH alliance and BN, including the distribution of seats for the upcoming PRN Melaka. Melaka has 28 seats in the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN), and in the 15th PRN, BN formed the state government after securing 21 seats, followed by PH with five seats and the Perikatan Nasional with two seats. The term of the Melaka state government will end on January 31st.
