Parrott scores again as Betis beat 10-man Lille

Republic of Ireland forward Troy Parrott netted the winning goal as Real Betis staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Lille 2-1 in their Champions League opener. The former Tottenham striker added to his impressive scoring record since joining Betis, scoring the only goal in their previous match against Real Madrid. Lille dominated the first half but suffered a setback when their leading scorer, Ayase Ueda, was substituted for a second goal.

Betis equalized just three minutes after the restart through Marc Bartra, who converted a free-kick from Pablo Fornals. Parrott then sealed the victory for the Spanish side with a low shot into the far corner. Lille's night took a turn for the worse after their star player, Ethan Mbappe, received a straight red card for apparently elbowing Natan.

The French team made desperate attempts to equalize with reinforcements, including Olivier Giroud, but were unable to overcome Betis' solid defense. Betis will face Porto next in their Champions League campaign on October 14th at 20:00 BST, while Lille travel to Arsenal for their next group stage fixture on October 13th at 20:00 BST.
