Former President of the Hajj Fund, Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, faces prosecution tomorrow at Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court under the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Agency Act 2009, according to reports. His son, Mohamed Khairul Azman, announced that Azeez will appear in court the following day to face the charges against him. The arrest has also prevented Azeez from attending the Umno General Assembly with other supporters as planned.

Khairul expressed his disappointment, stating that he had never imagined his father being in such a situation. He shared his feelings of sadness, fear, and disappointment in a Facebook post earlier today. Although Khairul acknowledged his reluctance to interfere in the legal process or pass judgment on anyone, he emphasized the importance of an impartial, transparent, and unbiased trial.

Khairul urged the public to pray for his father's strength, calmness, and protection, adding that the matter should be handled efficiently and without bias. Azeez was reportedly to be charged at Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court under the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Agency Act 2009 tomorrow at 9 AM. In August 2021, Azeez and another former senior official of the Hajj Fund were subpoenaed for seven days, until September 2, to assist in the investigation related to the Royal Malaysian Police (RCI) report on the Hajj Fund.

The RCI report, uploaded to the official website of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) on July 29, 2021, suggested a forensic audit to investigate past investment decisions that led to the Hajj Fund's severe asset value decline. The report also identified several problematic investments for forensic audit. The audit also revealed suspicious transactions and hidden information.
