Mayor Karachi’s Office Destroyed by Fire

A fire erupted at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters, gutting the office of Mayor Murtaza Wahab. The fire brigade quickly responded to the scene and managed to contain the flames. Unfortunately, there have been no reports of casualties thus far. This incident occurred the day after another significant blaze at an old-clothes factory in Karachi's Landhi Export Processing Zone, where three individuals, including a woman, experienced breathing issues.

The Landhi fire was classified as a third-degree blaze. Firefighters from the Karachi fire brigade deployed eleven fire tenders, two water tankers, and a snorkel to combat the flames. Additional fire tenders were also dispatched to the location. In recent months, Karachi has experienced a series of severe fires, which have sparked discussions about the city's fire safety measures and emergency response capabilities.

Prior to this latest incident, a tragic fire at Gul Plaza, a prominent shopping center in Karachi, claimed more than 70 lives earlier in the year. This tragedy also highlighted the city's shortcomings in terms of fire safety regulations. Gul Plaza was a sprawling complex housing around 1,200 businesses spanning its basement, mezzanine, and three floors, which were largely destroyed in the inferno.
