Maqam Choir revives Arab musical heritage through harmony of human voices

The Music Affairs Centre under Qatar's Ministry of Culture is nurturing a unique musical initiative known as the "Maqam" Choir. This project aims to spotlight the expressive power of the human voice while presenting Arab musical heritage in a fresh, contemporary ensemble format. The Maqam Choir, led by Khalid al-Salem, Director of the Music Affairs Centre, embodies the Centre's dedication to unveiling local vocal talent and offering them real chances to hone their skills within a professional vocal group.

Al-Salem emphasizes that the Maqam Choir is an artistic entity of its own, centered on a cappella performance, with each singer contributing melody, rhythm, and harmony through their voices.
