Man confronts Abuja trader over alleged sexual comments about minor

A man confronted a trader at Garki International Market, Abuja, after allegedly hearing the older man make sexual comments about a young girl estimated to be between seven and 10 years old. The incident occurred during choir rehearsal last Saturday when the man went to the market to purchase fabric for a client’s suit and help a friend retrieve some clothing.

He claimed he overheard the comments while walking through the corridor at Obasanjo Block, where the girl was helping her mother or guardian with a POS business, carrying a blue Moniepoint POS machine. A woman nearby challenged the older man, but he allegedly responded with another sexual remark about the child. The man said he could not ignore the comment and confronted the trader, telling him, "Sir, with all due respect, this thing you just said is very stupid.

You shouldn’t say that to a child because she’s a minor." Other men defended the older man, while one allegedly made a comment about the girl's clothing. The man said he was unaware of any recording of the confrontation and only learned the video went viral on TikTok. He stated that he did not act for attention, emphasizing, "The life of God in me trumps my humanity. I couldn’t hear that and walk away."
