Legal challenge launched against PTI’s planned march on Islamabad

The Islamabad High Court has been approached by a petitioner regarding the PTI's planned sit-in and protest scheduled for September 27 in Islamabad. Waqas Ahmed, the petitioner, is concerned about the potential disruption to daily life, traffic, and businesses in the capital. The IHC Chief Justice, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, will hear the case on Tuesday.

Petitioner Waqas Ahmed sought court intervention against the use of provincial resources for the protest, specifically directed at the involvement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi, who has been invited to lead the march to Islamabad. The petitioner expressed apprehension that the provincial government's resources and machinery could be utilized for political purposes.

The IHC has been asked to direct the respondents to ensure that the rights of ordinary citizens, commuters, and business owners are not affected by the planned protest. The PTI's Sept 27 mobilisation is not limited to Islamabad, as claimed by the party leadership. KP CM Sohail Afridi recently visited Sindh to garner support for the protest, inviting lawyers to join it while maintaining that Imran Khan remains committed to the nation's future without making any deals.

CM Sohail Afridi faced obstacles on his route, with obstacles placed on his convoy by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in Karachi. He apologized for the inconvenience caused, attributing it to a lack of infrastructure and blocked roads. The PTI leadership clarified that peaceful protest is a constitutional and legal right, with a nationwide movement called for by the party to protect the Constitution and rule of law.

KP's volunteer organization, 'Pasdaran-i-Azm Imran Khan Pakistan,' was formed to aid participants during the protest.
