Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the cooperation and consensus among Cabinet members, despite allegations of strained relations. The stability of the nation and the ability to plan for the future are inextricably linked to the stability of the political landscape, which is facilitated by the unity within the Cabinet, he stated during a meeting of the Joint Ministerial Conference in Putrajaya.

Anwar stressed the importance of leveraging political stability to continue his plans and implement policies beneficial to the nation. He also cautioned against complacency regarding achievements and urged all parties to continue striving for increased performance. Initially, Bloomberg reported a deteriorating relationship between Anwar and his successor, Zahid Hamidi, due to the National Front's election defeat in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

This report further alleged that the situation was further exacerbated by pressure from the DAP to reform institutions shortly before the end of the year, with Anwar requiring BN's support to secure a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat to pass the constitutional amendment. Zahid, who chairs the BN, denied these allegations, asserting that his relationship with DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook was excellent.

He confirmed that the Cabinet meeting concluded at 1 pm as usual, contrary to the Bloomberg report. He firmly stated that the BN would continue to adhere to its commitment to remain within the unity government until the end of the current administration term.
