Iran Guards say seized unmanned US submarine drone in Hormuz

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced on Tuesday that they had seized an advanced American submarine drone in the crucial Strait of Hormuz. Tehran has been blockading the strategic waterway in the ongoing Middle East conflict. The Guards' statement, broadcast by state television, revealed that their naval forces captured one of the U.S. terrorist army's most sophisticated, unmanned submarines at the Strait's entrance during a complex intelligence operation early Tuesday.

This cutting-edge vessel is equipped with the latest subterranean technology and was delivered to the U.S. terrorist army fleet in 2025, according to the Guard's account. The captured submarine will have its images released in the coming hours, the statement added. Iranian media reported that the unmanned underwater vehicle's primary functions included subsurface reconnaissance and surveillance, seabed mapping, mine detection, and the inspection of submarine cables and pipelines.

The Strait of Hormuz, which normally carries around a fifth of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas exports, is a critical conduit for global energy supply.
