Indian Americans turn to Democrats ahead of US midterms: Why it matters

This has led to notable disagreements within the party, such as Jeffries' public rejection of the "Medicare for All" bill and his handling of a pro-Israel Democratic party member's rise to a prominent foreign policy role. Congressional progressives are also reportedly pushing for term limits for key roles and challenging committee leaders.

When asked about these internal developments, Rep. Pramila Jayapal and progressive candidate Adam Hamawy both expressed confusion and concern, stating they had direct conversations with Jeffries about the topic. While a majority of Democrats seem to believe Jeffries will become speaker if Democrats gain control of the House, the growing discontent among progressive candidates facing off against Jeffries poses a challenge for his leadership in the upcoming election.
